The Gift Cougar believes that the best gifts for honoring LGBTQ+ folks come in the form of support and love. With that in mind, here are some ways that you can show your support to your LGBTQ+ friends and family: 

1. Listen to and believe them when they come out to you. This is a big moment for them, and your support will mean the world. 

2. Educate yourself on LGBTQ+ issues. This will show them that you’re committed to being an ally and an advocate for their rights. 

3. Stand up to bigotry and hate. If you see or hear someone say something derogatory about LGBTQ+ people, speak up and let them know that it’s not okay. 

4. Show your Pride. Attend a Pride parade or festival, or show your support by flying a rainbow flag, sticker or other flash at your home or business. Check out these LGBTQ+ goodies from Pride Shack:

5. Support LGBTQ+-friendly businesses. Make an effort to patronize businesses that are LGBTQ+-owned or -friendly. 

6. Donate to LGBTQ+ causes. Many organizations are doing vital work to support and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Show your support with a financial contribution. 

7. A care package for those struggling with their identity will show that they are accepted and loved.

8. Be an ally every day.
